BURLINGAME — Jack D. McCarty, 61, Burlingame, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1993, at his home.
Mr. McCarty was a welder and pipe fitter. He had worked on projects over the nation including the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Mo., and the bridges for Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was born June 22, 1932, near Neodesha, the son of Carl Franklin and Nannie Cleo Staton McCarty and attended Neodesha schools. He lived in Burlingame since 1987.
Mr. McCarty was a member of Pipe Fitters Union, Local No. 363, in Hutchinson and Cecil J. Meeker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No 1654 in Chanute.
He was married to Katherine Warfel
in 1981 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Kristi Laney, Bristol, Colo.; two sons, Rick McCarty and Scott McCarty, both of Moline; two stepdaughters, Teresa Hammer, Wichita, and Nancy Huff, Oil City, Pa.; a stepson, Harry Hammer III, Topeka; his mother, Nannie McCarty, Ozark, Mo.; two sisters, Margaret Jaynes, Topeka, and Mary Jo Frazer, El Dorado; two brothers, Don McCarty, Sparta, Mo., and Harold McCarty, Cedar Vale; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Federated Church in Burlingame. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery in Rossville. Mr. McCarty will lie in state from 2 until 8 p.m. today at Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame where relatives and friends will meet from 7 until 8 p.m. today.
