| Obituary- McClain, Leslie LESLIE ORLANDO McCLAIN
Leslie Orlando McClain, son of Matilda A. and J. H. McClain was born June 19, 1914, at Delia, Kansas and departed from this life at the Kansas City, Mo., general hospital No. 1 on October 14, 1955, at the age of 41 years, 3 months and 25 days, after a brief illness.
On March 31, 1934, he was united in marriage to Velva Louise Rader at Holton, Kansas. To this union three children were born: Rosalee Irene, Leola Alice and Donald James.
In 1945, Mr. McClain and family took up their residence in Kansas City, Kansas, and later moved to Bethel where they have since made their home.
Leslie had a wide circle of friends and relatives and will be sadly missed by his untimely passing.
He was a kind and devoted husband and father.
He was employed at the Indianapolis - Kansas City motor Express Co. for the past two years.
Leslie is survived by his father, J. H. McClain and stepmother of 1110 East 8th, Topeka, Kansas; seven sisters: Mrs. Stella M. Pettit of Benkelman, Nebraska, Mrs. Stacia A. Eakin of Delia, Kansas, Mrs. Nona E. Hurla of 2528 N. 43rd, Kansas City, Kan., Mrs. Ruth E. Whittington of Benkelman, Nebr., Myrnah McClain of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Edna H. Place, Laurence [sic Lawrence], Kansas, and Mrs. Myrtle A. Baker of Woodbine, Kan.; and three brothers, Samuel H. of Holton. Kan., Fred J. of Bethel, Kan., and John U. of Parks, Nebr. and one uncle, Robert Eisermann of Bonner Springs, Kan., besides a number of nieces and nephews. His Mother preceded him in death in 1940.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 16. Brief funeral parlor services were conducted in the Padden Funeral Home at Holton at 1 p.m. by Rev. Punter. Funeral procession then followed to the Delia Presbyterian church where the main service was conducted at 2:30. Burial was at the Adrian Cemetery north of Delia where the McClain family stock formerly lived when Adrian was a village.
