  Documents		Marriage- Cottle, Emma-McConnell, John Cottle-McConnell Miss Emma Cottle and Mr. John McConnell were united in the holy bonds of wedlock last Saturday by the Probate Judge in his office at Topeka. They returned on the evening train and stopped off at Kingsville and went direct to the home prepared by the groom on the Ensign farm. They are both well known young people, who have the best wishes of many friends for their success and happiness. Miss Cottle is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Cottle and has been employed for some time past as clerk in the Vorhies grocery.

• Documents » Slide Show		Obituary- McConnell, James 1 James “Papa Jim" A. McConnell, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, in a St. Joseph health care center. He was born November 29,1917, in Rossville, Kan., the son of Emma and John McConnell. He graduated from Rossville High School. He served in the Army and is a veteran of the World War II, serving in the 268 AAF base unit as the Assistant Crew Chief. He worked at Swift & Henry Commission as a buyer at the St. Joseph Stockyards for over 60 years. He enjoyed raising quarter horses and was of the Christian faith. James was preceded in death by wife, Ina McConnell; father, John McConnell; mother, Emma (Cottle) McConnell Waller; step father, George Waller; son, James L. McConnell; brother, Johnny McConnell; and sister, Ruby Lawrence. Survivors include companion, Sharon Black of St. Joseph. Graveside funeral services and interment will be conducted on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
