    Earl W. McDiffett
    ROSSVILLE — Earl W. McDiffett, 66,
    Rossville, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at a Topeka hospital.

    Mr. McDiffett was a laminator of earthmover tires at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 35 years before he retired in 1994. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.

    He was born Nov. 30, 1931. near Alta Vista, the son of Lorenzo W. and Arnolla K. Fisher McDiffett. He was raised at Dwight and had lived in Rossville since 1966.

    Mr. McDiffett was a life member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville, United Rubber Workers Local No 307 at Topeka and the Varmint Hunters Association.

    He was married to Phyllis Easter on Aug. 20, 1954, at Council Grove. She survives.

    Other survivors include two sons, Steve McDiffett and Bruce McDiffett, both of Rossville; two sisters, Carol Peters and JoAnn Evans, both of Dwight; a brother, Ellis McDiffett, Overland Park; and two grandchildren.

    Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. McDiffett will lie in state from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where relatives and friends will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Rescue Squad or to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the funeral home.

    Earl W. McDiffett
    Earl W. McDiffett, 65, Rossville, died Friday, April 2,4, 1998, at a Topeka hospital.

    He was born November 30, 1931, in rural Alta Vista, the son of Lorenzo W. and Arnolla K. Fisher McDiffett.

    He grew up in the Dwight community. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, on the USS PCEC-886. He had lived in Tope-ka until he moved to Rossville in 1966. He was a laminator in earth mover tires for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., Topeka, where he had worked for 35 years before retiring in November 1994. He was a lifetime member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville. He was a member of United Rubber Workers Union Local 307, Topeka, and was a member of the Varmint Hunters Association.

    On August 20, 1954, he was married to Phyllis Easter at Council Grove. She survives at the home.

    Other survivors include two sons, Steve McDiffett and Bruce McDiffett, both of Rossville; a daughter-in-law, Cindy McDiffett, Rossville; two sisters, Carol Peters and JoAnn Evans, both of Dwight; a brother, Ellis McDiffett, Overland Park; a granddaughter and a grandson. He was preceded in death by five brothers.

    Visitation is from 6:30 until 7:30 Tuesday (this evening), at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home. His service is at 10:30 Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Marys. Burial will be in the Rossville Cemetery.
