CHARLES M. McGUIRE
Charles M. McGuire, 86, St. Marys, died Sunday, September 11, 1983, at a Topeka hospital.
He was a roadway maintenance man for the Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1952.
Mr. McGuire was born October 3, 1896, at Rossville, the son of Robert and Ellen Navarre McGuire. He moved to St. Marys from Belvue in 1935.
He served with the Army during World War I.
He was a member of Pottawatomie Lodge No. 52, AF&AM, at St. Marys, and Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.
He was married to Hazel Mulford December 24, 1919, at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Charles J. McGuire, Kansas City; a daughter, Irene Nadvornik, Bonner Springs; a sister, May Levett, Topeka; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Graveside Masonic Lodge rites will be performed by Pottawatomie Lodge #52 from St. Marys; Jimmie Lillard American Legion Post #31, Rossville, will conduct military rites. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at St. Marys.
Casket bearers will be Henry Beseau, Henry Schoemann, Arnold Caudill, George Swank, Walter Denny and Kenneth Shove.
Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (this evening) at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5229 S.W. 7th, Topeka, Ks. 66607.
