    Lucy McGuire
    Mrs. Lucy McGuire, one of the oldest Rossville natives, wife of the late Henry McGuire, died Saturday morning at a Topeka hospital after a long illness.

    Mrs. McGuire, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hurd, pioneer settlers of Rossville community was born on a farm west of Rossville, September 5, 1887, and had lived here all her life. Her mother passing on when she was a child, Mrs. McGuire was reared by the Sisters of Charity at the old St. Marys Mission at St. Marys.

    Married to the late Henry McGuire their only child was Molly McGuire who was married to the late Frank Stackhouse.

    Mrs. Stackhouse passed on leaving three children, who were reared by their grandmother. They are Mrs. Fleta Ables, Topeka; Mrs. Frances Underwood, San Jose, Calif., and James Stackhouse, a World War II Veteran now of Winter Veterans Hospital, Topeka.

    Other survivors are: eight nephews Guide, 844 North Quincy, Topeka; Henry McGuire, Mayetta, Joe McGuire [misprint], Charlie McGuire, St. Marys; Robert McGuire, Belvue; Louis McGuire, Belvue; Tom McGuire, Kansas City, Kansas; Bill McGuire, Jr., Topeka; Frank McGuire, Topeka and two nieces, Mrs. James Cook, Belvue and Mrs. James Godly, Topeka, all of whom with their families were present for the funeral, which was held at Parker's Mortuary in Topeka at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

    Burial was in Rossville cemetery.

    The pallbearers were nephews, Tom McGuire, Charlie McGuire, Robert McGuire and Russell Cook.

    Other relatives present for the funeral were children of the late Cal Day.
