    McDiffett-Meade
At her wedding to Charles U. Meade Jr., Patti Jean McDiffett carried a linen handkerchief belonging to her great-aunt, Mrs. Lial Bunger. The handkerchief was brought from India 50 years ago by Miss Francis Bunger, a missionary, and is traditionally carried by brides of the family.

Miss McDiffett and Mr. Meade exchanged marriage vows at 7 p.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. The Rev. John Murphy officiated, and candlelighters were Michael Foresman, Silver Lake, and Gene Foresman, St. Marys.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Pat J. McDiffett, Silver Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meade, Rossville.

The bride wore a bouffant gown of white Chantilace fashioned with pearl-trimmed, scalloped sabrina neckline and bridal point sleeves. The skirt, formed of scalloped lace ruffles, extended to a cathedral-length train. Her bouffant veil was held by a forward headpiece of Chantilace, and she carried a cascade of miniature white carnations and pink roses centered with a rosary, gift of the bridegroom.

Beverly Gail Huske, Topeka, was maid of honor and Joleen Parr, Rossville, was bridesmaid. Twin flower girl and ring bearer were Lisa Pelfrey and Leslie Pelfrey, Rossville.

David Parr, Topeka, was best man and James Lemon, Topeka, served as groomsman. The bride’s brother, Robert McDiffett, Topeka, and John Lindstrom, Silver Lake, ushered.

A reception in the Centennial Building in St. Marys followed the ceremony.

    After a honeymoon in
Oklahoma, the couple will live at 507 Orange St., Rossville.

Mrs. Meade was graduated from Silver Lake High School and is employed by Hallmark Cards, Inc. Mr. Meade, a graduate of Rossville High School, is employed by Henry Manufacturing Co.
