    Richard “Dick” Emery Merrill
    Richard Emery Merrill, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City MO.

    Richard was born in Waterville KS on June 15, 1937, the son of Paul and Grace Powell Merrill. He married Delores Schilling on June 11, 1961 in the Dover/Willard community, where they lived for the last 51 years. She survives. Richard worked for Santa Fe Railroad, where he retired after 37 years of service.

    Richard is also survived by his children, Robert Merrill, Judy Fiegener (Jim), Cherilyn Olmsted (Randy), Susan Allen (Tom), Kevin Merrill (Sally), Charles Merrill (Yvonne); nine grandchildren; his brothers, Morris Merrill (Jean), Martin Merrill (Linda); and his sister, Ann Foster (Don). He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Mr. Merrill will lie in state and family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Dover Federated Church. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Dover Cemetery.
