The funeral of the late Mrs. Elizabeth J. Miller was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 at the Miller home on Spruce Street, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Battleford, of the North Topeka M.E. Church.
Mrs. Miller died Sunday afternoon at 3:30 after an illness of four days with diarrhea, but this was only a contributory cause of her death. For the past two years she had not been in the best of health, at times suffering with a troublesome heart, and it was not until the last two days before her death that the relatives became alarmed and sent for the children.
Elizabeth J. Gray was born at Blaine, Perry County, Pa., July 16, 1846, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gray. She was united in marriage December 25, 1866, to J.W. Miller, at Blaine, Pa., and in Jan. 1880 they came to Kansas and located at Rossville, and have continued to live here since. Mrs. Miller united with the Methodist church in 1880 and has been faithful to the last. She was a devoted worker in the Aid society of that church for the past forty years, and in late years had take keen delight in entertaining the society in her home frequently. She took great interest in her children and grandchildren and delighted in having them with their family come to the old home and visit. Mrs. Miller was 78 years 4 months and 6 days old at her death.
She is survived by her husband and four children, Rev. Charles Miller of Buffalo, Wyo., George of Topeka, Mrs. Grace Lane, of Laramie, Wyo. and Harry, address unknown, besides two sisters, Mrs. Robison of Harrisburg, Pa. and Mrs. Gosshorn, of Juliet county, Pa.
The out-of-town relatives present for the funeral were: Rev. Chas. Miller, Buffalo, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. George Miller and daughter Helen of Topeka, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lane and son, Fred of Laramie, Wyo., Mrs. Hattie Miller of Topeka, Mrs. Bee Sanders, Fredonda, Mrs. Fletia Robinson, Topeka, Mrs. and Mrs. Robert Kirby, Delia.
Interment was made in the Rossville cemetery.
