ROSSVILLE — Raymond Leland "Ray"
Mitchell, 97, Rossville, died Friday, Sept. 13,1996, at a Rossville nursing home.
Mr. Mitchell was a foreman on several ranches in the Oxnard, Calif., area until 1947 when he moved to a farm near Delia where he farmed until 1961.
He was born Jan. 11,1899, at Delia, the son of William and Anna Brown Mitchell. He moved to Rossville from Delia in 1959.
Mr. Mitchell was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church.
He was married to Mollie Kovar on May 17, 1922, in Topeka. She died Aug. 30, 1985. A grandson, Lonnie Harold Winters, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Clara M. Winters, Great Bend, and Thelma Lowy, Montebello, Calif.; a son, Cody Joe Mitchell, Bullhead City, Ariz.; a brother, Ervin Mitchell, Rossville; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 great- great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial will be at Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell will lie in state after 8 a.m. Monday at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.

He was born January 11,1899, at Delia, the son of William and Anna Brown Mitchell. He grew up in the Delia community.
Mr. Mitchell farmed until 1943, when he moved to Oxnard, Calif. He worked as a foreman on several ranches in the Oxnard area. He moved back to Delia in 1947, and moved to Rossville in 1959. He farmed until he retired in 1961.
He was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church.
On May 17,1922, he was married to Mollie Kovar in Topeka. She died August 30,1985. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lonnie Harold Winters.
Survivors include two daugters, Clara M. Winters, Great Bend, and Thelma Lowy, Montebello, Calif; one son, Cody Joe Mitchell, Bullhead City, Ariz.; one brother, Ervin Mitchell, Rossville; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchil¬dren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Parker- Price Mortuary in Topeka. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday (this afternoon) at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery.
