Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Mitchell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner held Sunday, July 1, at their home. The couple's eight children and their families were present for the occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell were married at Alma on June 23. Hi06, and have lived most of their married site in the Maple Hill and Rossville communities. Mr. Mitchell is a retired farmer. There are 26 grand children and six great grandchildren.
Members of the family present for the dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mitchell and family of Circleville. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Polson of Holton, Mrs. Ruby Adams and daughter from Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. John Howe from Willard, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Clark from Topeka, Mr. and Mrs. Tom O’Donnell, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Britt, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nadeau and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Olejnik and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mitchell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olejnik and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Olejnik, all from Rossville.

ON 54th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. George Mitchell were honored guests at a dinner Sunday in celebration of their 54th wedding anniversary.
The dinner was given at the home of Mrs. Roxie Nadeau. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Tom 0 Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mitchell, Darryl, Diana, Debbie, and Darwin, Mrs. Ivan Britt, Mrs. Allan Rose, Stevie and Randy, Mrs. Bill Oleinik, Lila and Bobby, all of Rossville; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mitchell, Loren and David of Circleville, Mrs. Wayne Clark, Phil and Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mitchell, Rhonda and Brenda, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mitchell and Mike, Mrs. Jerry Lister, all of Topeka; Miss Jean Nadeau, Misses Salley and Susan Nadeau, Mike, David and Dennis Nadeau.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Mitchell will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, August 23,1986, with a reception at 8 p.m., followed by a dance from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Rossville American Legion building.
Hosts are the couple’s children, Daryl and Shirley Mitchell, Rossville; Diana and Harry Magee, Kansas City, Mo.; Dale and Debby Upton, Silver Lake; and Darwin Mitchell, Chattanooga, Tenn.
Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend.

 | Obituary- Mitchell, Theodore Theodore Orville "Ted" Mitchell, 81, died Friday, August 11, 2006, at his home in Rossville. He was born November 9, 1924 near Delia the son of George W. and Ethel Lister Mitchell. He was raised in the Rossville community and attended Rossville High School. Ted had lived most of his life in the Rossville community. He had served in the United States Army serving in the Rome, Rhineland, Central Europe Southern France and Ardennes campaigns. Ted had worked over 40 years for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant in Topeka retiring in 1986. He was a charter member of the Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville. On August 19, 1946, Ted was united in marriage to Honora A. Karnowski at Topeka. She preceded him in death on June 9, 1991. Then on July 12, 1993 he was married to Beverly McMillan at Miami, OK. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Mitchell; sisters, Velda O'Donnell, Elvara Olejnik, Sylvia Britt and Juanita Polson. Survivors are his wife Beverly of the home; two duaghters, Dianna Magee and her husband Harry, Raytown, MO and Debra Kisner and her husband Duke, Silver Lake; two sons; Daryl Mitchell and his wife Shirley, Rossville and Darwin Mitchell and his wife Pam, Ft. Payne, AL; step-children Del Lamb and his wife Carla and Debra Gamble, both of Wichita and Patricia Brown and her husband Troy and Michelle Roush and her husband Phil both of Topeka; two sisters Roxie Banta, Silver Lake and Ruby Adams, Portland, OR; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Monday at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery where Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion will conduct Military Graveside Services. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, KS, 66536. |
