Everett C. Mongold Sr.
CIRCLEVILLE — Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton for Everett Clarence Mongold Sr., 73, Circleville, who died Thursday, April 18, 1994, at his home.
He was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Silver Lake, the son of Hiram and Lillian Goodrich Mongold. He lived in Silver Lake and Topeka before he moved to Circleville six years ago. He worked for Seymour Foods in Topeka more than 15 years and at the Topeka Supply Depot several years. He worked for Scotch Cleaners in Topeka four years before he retired.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army from April 22, 1943, to Feb. 18, 1946. He maintained and repaired 50 kilowatt engines for the 127th Army Airways Communications division in China, Burma and India during the war.
He was married to Lucille Carter Sept. 1, 1947. They were divorced. He was married to Margie McClellan in November 1973 in Silver Lake. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Everett C. Mongold Jr., and Martin E. Mongold, both in Topeka; a daughter, Mittie Flesher, Topeka; six step-daughters, Linda Noell, Collinsville, Ill., Cheryl Whitney, Sebring, Fla., Christie Kennedy, Berryton, Leona Sawyer and Ginger Lane, both in Topeka, and June Kirk, St. Louis, Mo.; a stepson, William Rawlings, Topeka; a sister, Mary McLin, Silver Lake; two brothers, Homer Mongold, Silver Lake, and George Mongold, Grantville; 29 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Everett C. Mongold Sr., Memorial Fund yet to be designated and sent in care of the funeral home.
