    Homer and Maxine Mongold, Silver Lake, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception Sunday afternoon, March 22, in the fellowship hall of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, from 2 to 4. The couple requests no gifts, please.

    Maxine Hixon and Homer Mongold were married March 20,1948, at Lawrence.

    They are the parents of the late Sidney “Sid” Dale Mongold, and the grandparents of three — Tammy Mongold Useman, Fort Myers, Fla., Rodney Mongold and Sam Mongold, both of Casper, Wyo.

    Homer is retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka. Maxine is a homemaker.

    Sidney D. Mongold

    KAYCEE, Wyo. — Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Mission Church here for Sidney Dale Mongold, 39, Kaycee, formerly of Silver Lake, Kan. He was killed Sunday, Oct. 12, in a cave-in while working on a water line for the City of Kaycee.

    Mr. Mongold also was a volunteer firefighter at Kaycee.

    He was born Oct. 15, 1946, .in Topeka, the son of Homer and Maxine Hixon Mongold. He attended Silver Lake Schools and was graduated from Silver Lake High School.

    Mr. Mongold was a member of the United Methodist Church, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Grove 4-H Club, all while living at Silver Lake. He was a Scoutmaster and a member of Grace Mission Church at Kaycee.

    He was married to Linda Martins. She survives.
    Other survivors include a daughter, Tammy Mongold, Fort Collins, Colo.; two sons, Rodney Mongold and Sam Mongold, both at home; and his parents, Homer and Maxine Mongold, Silver Lake.

    Burial will be in Kaycee Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home, Buffalo, Wyo., is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Kaycee, Wyo. 82639.

    Our sincere and heartfelt thanks for the many visits to our home, phone calls, cards, flowers, food, memorial contributions and most of all your many prayers at the time of the tragic death of our son, Sidney Dale Mongold, 39, Kaycee, Wy.

    “Sid” was killed in a water main cave-in on October 12, in Kaycee, Wy. He was a maintenance supervisor there. Our very special thanks to Rev. Paul Deevers and our niece, Mary, (Mrs. Marshall) McLin, without whose help we couldn’t have functioned. We shall never forget your many acts of kindness. God’s richest blessings to each and everyone of you. We Love You All.
