    Ronald Lee “Muggs” Monhollon
    Rossville-Ronald Lee “Muggs” Monhollon, 68, died Tuesday, August 29, at his home in Rossville.

    He was born in Goff, on November 5, 1937 to Vivian Aldine Morris and Donald Guy Monhollon. Mr. Monhollon lived in Topeka and Junction City in his youth, but also in Goff, where he lived with his foster parents, Vern and Pearl Monhollon. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1955.

    On May 19,1957 he was united in marriage to Anne Marie Davis at Valley Falls. Mr. Monhollon worked as an auto mechanic for many years before turning to welding. He worked for Henry Manufacturing (later Allis-Chalmers) in Topeka, rising to plant superintendent of the facility. He taught welding at Kaw Area Vocational School and for the United States Air Force at Forbes Field. Mr. Monhollon was also the General Manager of Henry Corporation in Topeka. In 1975 he established Rossville Machine and Weld, which he and his wife operated until they sold the business and retired in January 2006.

    He served nine years in the Kansas Army National Guard. He was a member of the Rossville Lions Club and the Rossville Booster Club. Mr. Monhollon was a member of the American Welding Society.

    He had just returned home from a trip to China where he watched his grandson Dylan Channel play basketball for the Washburn University Men’s Basketball Team.

    Mr. Monhollon was preceded in death by his parents, his foster parents, Vern and Pearl Monhollon; three brothers Morris, Donald and Gerald; and a foster sister Ernestine Kerr.

    In addition to his wife Anne, Mr. Monhollon is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rusty Monhollon and Sonja Erickson, Middletown, Maryland; a daughter and son-in-law Ronda and Jim Channel of Rossville; a sister Janet Monger, Phoenix, AZ; three foster sisters, Pat Smith, Holton, Joan Hollis, Horton and Jean Rutz, Holton; an aunt Helen Duesler, Topeka; eight grandchildren, Daniel and Richard Monhollon; Dylan, Roni, Dana and Brooke Channel; and Davis and Rachael Erickson.

    Graveside Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Monhollon will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Friday at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M.
