    Mrs. Samuel Landis Is Dead
    Mrs. Samuel Landis 89, mother of Dan Landis, passed away Wednesday at her home on route 6, Topeka, following an illness of several months. She was found dead in her bed by members of the family.

    Mrs. Landis was born in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 19, 1848 and came to Kansas 1878. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 o'clock at the North Topeka Baptist church. Burial at Prairie Home cemetery.

    Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Mary Saum, of Pleasanton, Ks., Mrs. Emma Winberger, Delans, Ca., Mrs. E.L. Allman, Ellis, Ks., Mrs. O.D. Lockhart, Osborne, Ks., Mrs. Lucy Rush, Mrs. William Noller, Topeka; and Miss Clara Landis of the home; and three sons, Daniel B. Landis of Rossville; John Landis of North Topeka and Samuel A. Landis of the home.

    Mrs. Samuel Landis

    Kathryn Boyer was born January 19, 1848, in Dauphin county, Penn., and departed this life October 13, 1937, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 24 days.

    She was united in marriage to Samuel C. Landis on March 21, 1869. To this union were born thirteen children, three of whom died in infancy. Her husband passed away June 22, 1922. Those surviving are seven daughters: Mrs. Mary Saum, Pleasanton, Kansas; Mrs. Emma Weinberger, Delano, Calif.; Mrs. E.L. Allman, Ellis, Kansas; Mrs. Lucy Rush, Topeka; Mrs. O.D. Lockhart, Osborne, Kansas; Miss Clara Landis of the home; three sons, Daniel B., Rossville; Samuel A., North Topeka, R6; John F., Topeka. Two sisters and one brother, all of Pennsylvania, 31 grandchildren and 21 great grand-children, also survive.

    They came to Kansas in the spring of 1878 and settled on the farm where she resided for 59 years until her death. She united with the Methodist church in her girlhood and in later years united with the United Brethren church.

    In 1919 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

    Funeral services were held at the North Topeka Baptist church Saturday, October 16 at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Barclay. Interment was in Prairie Home cemetery.
