John David Lavin, 52, of Willard, KS, passed away Wednesday, February 8,2012 at his home.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne. He was a graduate of UTD.
John was an English teacher at Ford High School in Quinlan, TX. He then retired to Willard, Kansas with his wife Cynthia Miller.
He was survived by many loved ones.

John David Lavin, 52, of Willard, KS, formerly of Wichita, KS, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at his home.
He was born December 2, 1959 in Enid, OK, the son of Dwight Jimmy and Gilda Verl (Gilbert) Lavin. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne. He was a graduate of University of Texas at Dallas.
John was a Senior English Teacher at Ford High School in Quinlan, TX. He then retired to Willard, Kansas with his wife Cynthia Miller of 25 years.
Survivors include daughter, Tianna (Rashid) Spencer, two grandchildren, Noah and Marlee Spencer; daughters, Tonya and Tishelle Miller from a previous marriage; his mother, Gilda Lavin; sisters, Olive (Mark) Wilson, Sylvia (Tim) Franz, and Debi Cropp; nieces, Jasmine and Megan Wilson and Tiffany McLeroy; nephews, Sheldon and Denton Howell and Joshua Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Lavin.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.
