    Jack William Layne
    Jack William Layne, 42, Rossville, died Monday, Oct. 28, at a Topeka hospital emergency room. He had a heart ailment.

    Mr. Layne served in the Army from 1962 until he retired in 1983. His service included three years in Vietnam. Since his retirement he had been assistant ranch supervisor for McAnally Enterprises at Maple Hill.

    He was born July 13, 1943, at Chattaroy, W.Va.

    During his time in the Army he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one silver and two bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, Good Conduct Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

    He was married to Marilyn S. Cunningham May 22, 1970, at Salina. She survives.

    Other survivors include two sons, David William Layne and Jack Damon Layne, both at home; his stepfather and mother, Steven and Beulah Kondwros, Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, Jesse David Layne, Clarksville, Tenn.; and a sister, Coleen Bumpus, Clarksville, Tenn.

    Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Layne will lie in state after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

    Jack William Layne

    Jack William Layne, 42, was born July 13, 1943, at Chattaroy, West Virginia. He passed away at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center Emergency Room Monday morning, Oct. 28, 1985.

    Mr. Layne served in the Army in 1962 in West Virginia, and was discharged in 1983 at Fort Riley due to a heart disability. Two of the years in service were in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with on silver and two bronze starts. He also received a Vietnam campaign medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm and a good conduct medal and Army Service Ribbon.

    He was assistant ranch supervisor at McAnally Enterprises at Maple Hill.

    May 22, 1970, he was married to Marilyn S. Cunningham at Salina. She survives at the home in Rossville.

    Other survivors include two sons, David William Layne and Jack Damon Layne, both of the home; his mother and stepfather, Beulah and Steven Kondwros, Clarksville, Tenn.; a sister Coleen Bumpus, Clarksville, Tenn.; one brother, Jesse David Layne, Clarksville, Tenn.

    Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
