    Herman E. ‘Buddy’ Lee
    Herman E. “Buddy” Lee, 78, of Rossville passed away Jan. 12, 2014, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

    He was born Dec. 22, 1935, at Marshfield, Mo., the son of Hiram and Minnie Adams Lee. He grew up in the Ozarks and moved to Wichita at age 16 and started working for the railroad. Herman served in the Army National Guard.

    Herman moved to Topeka in the early 1960s and worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 45 years as a carman welder before retiring. He was a past member of the Lions Club. He was a member of AARP, TCIU Union and the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railroad Employees Inc. Herman attended coffee at McDonalds and at Wehner’s in Rossville. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly. Herman was an avid sports fan.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Gertrude George and Reba Branstetter, and his daughter, Julie Ann Luman.

    On Feb. 11,1962, he was united in marriage to llah “Marie” Hoobler Luman in Wichita; she survives of the home.

    Other survivors include a son, Bruce Lee and wife Karen of Topeka; two daughters, Lisa Con¬away and husband Mike, and Amy Rodehorst, all of Topeka; a sister, Betty Pruett and husband Dean of Blue Springs, Mo.; brothers-in-law, Dale McRae and wife Cheryl of Wichita and Denis McRae and wife Ivona of Chicago, III.; six grandchildren, Dwayne and Kara Lee, Mason, Monica and Michael Conaway, and Jenna BriAnn Rodehorst; along with many nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were Jan. 16 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment followed in the Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, KS 66536.
