    Carl V. Lewelling, 72, Merriam, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at a Kansas City area hospital.

    He was born Nov. 7, 1933, at Delia, the son of Roy and Edith Jenkins Lewelling. He attended High Prairie Grade School north of Delia, graduated from Delia High School in 1956 and earned a degree from Kansas State University in 1955.

    Mr. Lewelling served in the U.S. Army in 1956 and 1957. He later worked as a buyer for Hormel Meats in Rochester, Minn. He also worked in farm management, managing non-resident farm owners’ farms throughout Kansas; his family owns two Century Farms located in Jackson County.

    He was a member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church, the Shawnee Mission Rotary Club and the Welsh Society.

    He married Grace Stotts.

    Survivors include two sons, Clark Lewelling and Jon Lewelling, both of Merriam; a brother, James Lewelling, Green Valley, Ariz.; an aunt, Elsie Clemans, Brawley, Calif.; and 16 cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Lewelling and Glen Lewelling.

    Mr. Lewelling was cremated. Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee was in charge of arrangements.
