    Lewellings’ Golden Anniversary on June 5
    MR. AND MRS. EVAN LEWELLING, Rossville, will celebrate their Golden Anniversary with a reception at the Delia Community Center on Sunday, June 5, from 2-5 p.m. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.

    Since their wedding on June 1, 1927 at Holton, the couple has lived in the Delia, Soldier and Rossville communities. They are the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Laverne Zlatnik, Delia. Their son. Dale, was killed in a traffic accident in 1961. The Lewellings have three grandchildren - Mark, Caroline and Alan; and four great-grandchildren - Julie, Shiela, Scott and Melissa Zlatnik.

    Lewellings Celebrate Golden Anniversary in Delia
    Mr. and Mrs. Evan Lewelling, Rossville, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at the Delia Community Center Sunday, June 5.

    A buffet luncheon was served at noon to sixty family members. All of Mr. and Mrs. Lewelling’s living brothers and sisters, and an uncle of Mr. Lewelling were in attendance.

    Dale Lewelling dies
    Evan Dale Lewelling, son of Louise and Evan Lewelling was born July 13, 1931 near Delia and was killed February 14, 1963 at Bakersfield, California in a truck accident, at the age of 31 years 7 months and 1 day.

    He with his family moved near Soldier in March, 1942.

    His first years of grade school were at High Prairie and he was graduated from Harrison School. He attended Soldier High School graduating with the 1949 class. His 4-H work was a high light of his life during this period.

    He farmed with his father until called to the service January 7, 1951. He was in Fort Leonard Wood for five months and then was stationed in Germany for eighteen months returning home in time for Christmas of 1952.

    After farming a few years, he went to California and began working as a heavy equipment operator near Bakersfield.

    He was a member of the Bucks Grove Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Soldier. His friendly nature made him many friends where ever he went.

    Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Velma Zlatnik, Delia, his brother-in-law, Laverne Zlatnik, a niece, Carolyn, two nephews Mark and Alan; his grandparents, Alan; his grandparents, Jesse Hayden,, Horton and Mrs. Dora Lewelling, Holton.

    Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Soldier at 2:00 o’clock on Tuesday, February 18th with burial in the Holton Cemetery.
