    Lewellings’ Golden Anniversary on June 5
    MR. AND MRS. EVAN LEWELLING, Rossville, will celebrate their Golden Anniversary with a reception at the Delia Community Center on Sunday, June 5, from 2-5 p.m. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.

    Since their wedding on June 1, 1927 at Holton, the couple has lived in the Delia, Soldier and Rossville communities. They are the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Laverne Zlatnik, Delia. Their son. Dale, was killed in a traffic accident in 1961. The Lewellings have three grandchildren - Mark, Caroline and Alan; and four great-grandchildren - Julie, Shiela, Scott and Melissa Zlatnik.

    Lewellings Celebrate Golden Anniversary in Delia
    Mr. and Mrs. Evan Lewelling, Rossville, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at the Delia Community Center Sunday, June 5.

    A buffet luncheon was served at noon to sixty family members. All of Mr. and Mrs. Lewelling’s living brothers and sisters, and an uncle of Mr. Lewelling were in attendance.

    Guests attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Hayden, Mr. and Mrs. Galen Hayden, Brent, Shannon, and Shelby, all from Valley Falls; Mr. and Mrs. James E. Hayden, Payson, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Allan Vortman and Miss Becky Jo Hayden, Jacksonville, Ill.; Mrs. Hazel Pool,

    Evan S. Lewelling
    Evan S. Lewelling, 80, Rossville, died Monday, Feb. 18, at a Topeka hospital.

    Mr. Lewelling was a retired farmer and stockman.

    He was born March 9, 1904, at Delia, the son of James and Dora Shields Lewelling. He lived at Soldier 34 years before he moved to Rossville nine years ago.

    He attended the United Methodist Churches at Soldier and Rossville.

    He was married to Martha Louise Hayden June 1, 1927, at Holton. She survives. A son, Dale Lewelling, died in 1963.

    Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Velma Zlatnik, Delia; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Clemans, Clovis, Calif.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton. Burial arrangements are pending. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Evan Lewelling Memorial Fund to be designated by relatives and sent in care of Kansas State Bank at Holton, 66436.
