    Richard Lewis
    Richard Lewis, 77, Wamego, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at a care center in Wamego.

    He was born July 19, 1921, in the Willard community in Shawnee County, the son of Richard and Martha Stitt Lewis. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1939. He was a printer and worked for General Printing and Paper Company and for the Fleming Company, in Topeka before he retired in 1985. He moved to Wamego in 1978.

    He had served in the Navy for three years during World War II.

    He married Ruth Buatte July 27, 1945, in San Diego. She died December 7,1994.

    Survivors include a son, Richard L. “Joe” Lewis, Mayetta; three daughters, Jackie Dillman and Mary F. Kalous, both of Wamego, and Teresa J. “Terri” Howard, Kingman, AZ; one brother, David Deane Lewis, Escondido, CA; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    His service was at Thursday at the RJ. Evans Mortuary, Wamego. Burial was in Wamego City Cemetery.

    Richard Lewis
    WAMEGO — Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at R.J. Evans Mortuary here for Richard Gene Lewis, 77, Wamego, who died Saturday, June 19.1999, at a care center in Wamego.

    He was born July 19,1921, in the Willard community in Shawnee County to Richard and Martha Stitt Lewis. He graduated from. Rossville High School in 1939. He was a printer and worked for General Printing and Paper Co. and for the Fleming Co. in Topeka before he retired in 1985. He moved to Wamego in 1978.

    He had served in the Navy for three years during World War II.

    He married Ruth Buatte on July 27,1945, in San Diego. She died Dec. 7,1994

    Survivors include a spit, Richard L. “Joe" Lewis, Mayetta; daughters; Jackie Dillman and Mary F. Kalous, both in Wamego,and Teresa J. ‘‘Terri” Howard, Kingman, Ariz.; a .brother, David Deane Lewis, Escondido, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    Burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at R.J. Evans Mortuary in Wamego.
