    Walter E. Lewis

    Sacramento, Calif. – Memorial services were here Aug. 26 for Walter E. Lewis, 71, formerly of Topeka, who died Aug. 24, 1994, at his home in Sacramento. He had leukemia.

    He was born May 2, 1923, in Rossville, and spent his early life in Topeka. He lived in California many years. He returned to Topeka each summer to spend about a month visiting an aunt, Lula Holcomb, Topeka, formerly of Silver Lake, and several cousins.

    Mr. Lewis was a member of a Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite bodies, the Shrine and Order of Eastern Star, all in California. He worked for the City of Sacramento before he retired.

    He and his wife, Sue, were married in California. She survives.

    Other survivors include two daughters, L. Marie Youngblood, in Colorado, and Diana Rollins, Sacramento; two sons, Tim Lewis and Mike Lewis, both in Sacramento; a brother, Gene Lewis, Carmichael, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

    Mr. Lewis was cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, North California Unit, Box 214477, Sacramento, 95821, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
