| Obituary- Lillard, James M. James M. Lillard
James M. Lillard passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Margie Hoobler, 1829 Green Acres in Topeka Oct. 31, at the age of 74 years 1 month and 23 days after an illness of five months.
He was born Sept. 8, 1877 in Rossville and had made his home in this community his entire life. He was a veteran of the Spanish American war serving in the Philippines with Gen. Fred Funston. He was a member of the Methodist church.
He was a kind and loving husband and father, and his passing brings sadness to his boyhood friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Lillard, three daughters Mrs. Mildred Wymore, Miss Thelma Lillard Mrs. Margie Hoobler and granddaughter Coreen Wymore, and a host of friends.
He was preceded by the death of his son, Staff Sgt. James J. Lillard, in 1944, an European casualty.
Funeral services were held at the Rossville Methodist Church Saturday November 3, with the pastor, Rev. Don Jones, officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Lorene Harth and Mrs. Maxine Trimble with Mrs. Irene Campbell accompanying at the piano.
Pallbearers were his nephews: Warren Lillard, John Lillard, Vernon Lillard, Edward Lillard and Harold Hoobler.
Burial was in the Rossville City cemetery.

James M. Lillard
James M. Lillard, 74, retired farmer, died this Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Margie Hoobler, 1829 Green Acres. He was born September 8, 1877, in Rossville, and had made his home in this community his entire life. He was a member of the Rossville Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Lillard of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Wymore, Thelma Lillard and Mrs. Hoobler, all of Topeka; a brother, B.F. Lillard, Topeka; and one granddaughter. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rossville Methodist church. Burial will be in Rossville cemetery.
