    Lasswells to Observe 65th Anniversary December 12

    Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lasswell, St. Marys, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house December 12, from 2-4 p.m. at Hammond Hall in St. Marys. Friends and relatives are invited to call. They ask that no gifts be brought.

    Hosting the occasion will be their daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Lucas, Topeka, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Davis, Rossville. The Lasswells have five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

    Mr. and Mrs. Lasswell were married on Christmas day 1911 in Topeka. They lived on a farm north of St. Clere for forty-five years before moving to St. Marys.

    Lasswells will Observe 75th Anniversary Christmas Day

    Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lasswell will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary December 25, 1986, quietly at their home in St. Marys.

    The couple, accompanied by Harley Seigle and Emma Rezac Peddicord, rode the train to Topeka to be married. They returned to the home of the bride’s parents, where a bountiful meal was served to relatives and friends.

    The first 46 years of their married life was spent on a farm north of Emmett. Twenty-nine years ago Roy and Agnes moved to St. Marys.

    They are the parents of two daughters, Mrs. George Lucas, Topeka, and Mrs. Marvin Davis, Rossville. The Lasswells have five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren — five generations.

    Friends and relatives are encouraged to help them in the observance of this anniversary with cards and visits.

    LOTTIE L. LUCAS
    Lottie L. Lucas, 92, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at Delmar Nursing Home in Lenexa.

    She was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Pottawatomie County. She was the daughter of Roy and Agnes Lasswell.

    She graduated from high school at the age of 16 and attended Strickler Business College in Topeka. She worked as a secretary at Montgomery Wards, the Department of Justice, and for 28 years worked as an administrative secretary at Security Benefit Life Insurance Company.

    Lottie married George C. Lucas on June 15, 1941. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1993.

    She was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1942 and belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Society and YOMAC Sunday School Class.

    She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Irene Davis of Rossville, and a grandson, Jamie Adcock.

    Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Adcock and her husband, Jon of Salina; a son, Dr. Steven Lucas and wife, Sharon of Topeka; four grandchildren, Jeff Laughman and wife, Audra; Ginger Howard and husband, Clark; Angie Lucas and Luke Lucas, all of Kansas City; and three great-grandchildren, A.J. Howard, Ava Howard and Kenten Laughman.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 22, in Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church.

    Interment followed in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

    Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka, was in charge of arrangements.
