    Irene I. Ludwig
    Irene I. Ludwig, 85, Topeka, died Saturday, June 28,1997, at a Topeka hospital.

    She was born April 11, 1912, in Topeka, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Sawald Shamberg.

    She was married to Jacob Joseph Ludwig in 1931, in Topeka. He died December 24, 1970.

    She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

    Survivors include a son, Raymond Ludwig, Topeka; five daughters, Elizabeth Compton, Janice M. Corwin and Louise Reece, all in Topeka, Carol A. Parr, Rossville, and Judith S. Cockroft, Richland Center, Wisc.; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

    A parish rosary was recited at 5:45 p.m. Monday at Brennan- Mathena Funeral Home in Topeka. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday (this morning) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
