    A wedding of interest to a [ ] many Rossville people was solemnized Wednesday, Nov. 8th, when Miss Edna Lee Reser became the bride of Mr. Alfred Lynde.

    The wedding took place at Topeka; Probate Judge Schocke pronouncing the happy words. Coming home on the 11:18 they were met by a shower of rice as they alighted. They were conveyed to the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bood Reser, where they were met by another shower of rice. As soon as congratulations were over they were conducted to the dining room where a bounteous dinner was served.

    The bride looked very pretty in a gown of blue messaline. The skirt was made in the new high waisted effect and panel front; the waist was made with lace yoke and short sleeves.

    They received many useful and pretty presents.

    The bride is an accomplished young lady loved by all who are fortunate to bear her acquaintance, the groom is a nice young man with many friends. They will make their future home northwest of town and will be at home northwest of town and will be at home to their friends after the 15th. All join in wishing them a long and prosperous life. There were about 30 guests that partook of the dinner after which they all joined in a welcome with tin pans and bells.

    The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred E. Lynde will be observed with open house Sunday, November 5, from 2 to 5 o’clock, in their home at 932 Cherry Street, Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

    Hosts for the occasion will be their children and their families, Vernon Lynde, Garden City; Elmer Lynde, Rossville; Raymond Lynde, Abeline, Texas; Dale Lynde, Arnold, Missouri; Mrs. Harley (Louise) Haag, Popular Bluff; Mrs. Jack (Bertha Mae) Osborne and Mrs. Eugene (Iona) Lee, Plains.

    The honored couple was married November 8, 1911, at the home of Mrs. Lynde’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Monterville (Bood) Reser near Rossville, Kansas.

    Mr. and Mrs. Lynde have 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

    A very simple but pretty wedding was solemnized in St. Helena Catholic parish, Helena, Montana on Saturday, July 17, when Miss Ethelyn Hook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pearl of Rossville and Mr. Elmer Lynde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lynde of Popular Bluff, Missouri, were united in marriage by Father Morressette.

    Mrs. Clifford Smithers, Helena, Montana and Mr. Edgar Smith, York, Montana were Mr. and Mrs. Lynde's attendants. Mr. Clifford Smithers was also present.

    Mrs. Lynde is a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy at St. Marys, Kansas and attended college at St. Mary college at Leavenworth, Kansas. She has been employed in Helena, Montana for the past three months.

    Mr. Lynde is a graduate of Rossville high school. He has been employed since May 1 in the mill at the Golden Messenger gold mine near York, Montana.

    Mr. and Mrs. Lynde will make their home near York.

    Lynde Couple Celebrated
    Golden Anniversary
    Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the 16th and 17th of July in Missoula, Mont.

    The hosts on the 16th were Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Lynde and Carolyn Rogers, at Carolyn’s home. Dr. and Mrs. Loren Rogers entertained with a reception at the Elks Club on the 17th. Miss Mona Lynde, their daughter, was also a guest at both receptions. The couple has three grandsons and one granddaughter.

    Elmer and Ethelyn were married at Helena Cathedral on July 17, 1937. Mr. Lynde was a soil conservation contractor for 25 years. After living in Montana for nine years they moved back to Kansas in 1946.

    Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Lynde and Carolyn Rogers entertained Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, July 16, with a golden wedding party at Carolyn Roger’s home in Missoula, Mont. Other guests were Miss Mona Lynda, Topeka; Chris Lynde, Matthew and Daniel Rogers, all of Missoula, Mont. Mr. and Mrs. Lynde were married at the cathedral in Helena, Mont, on July 17,1937.

    Dr. and Mrs. Loren Rogers, Missoula, Mont., entertained Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, at a golden wedding party at the Elks Club on July 17. Other guests were Miss Mona Lynde, Topeka, Dr. and Mrs. Rogers’ three children, Matthew, Daniel and Misty, Kelly and George, and Mrs. Shirley Kubes.

    Elmer E. Lynde
    ROSSVILLE — Elmer E. Lynde, 79, Rossville, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1993, at a Topeka hospital.

    Mr. Lynde was a contractor in soil conservation work for 25 years before he retired in 1976. He previously owned and operated a welding shop in Rossville several years. He was a welder in Billings, Mont., during World War II and formerly worked for the Golden Messenger Mine in York and Clancy, Mont.

    He was born March 17, 1914, in Junction City, the son of Alfred and Edna Reser Lynde.

    Mr. Lynde was a member of Peoples State Bank Rollers at Rossville.

    He was married to Ethelyn Hook July 17, 1937. in Helena, Mont. She survives.

    Other survivors include a daughter, Vona Lynde, Topeka; two sons, Loren Lynde Rogers, and Timothy Lynde, both of Missoula, Mont.; three sisters, Louise Haag, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Bertha Mae Osborn and Iona Lee, both of Plains; two brothers, Dale Lynde, Arnold, Mo., and Raymond Lynde, Shreveport, La.; and five grandchildren.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Lynde will lie in state after 10 a.m. Sunday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Me¬morial contributions may be made to Sheltered Living Inc., at Topeka.

    Elmer Edwin Lynde

    Elmer Edwin Lynde, 79, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1993, in a Topeka hospital.

    He was born March 17, 1914, in Junction City, the son of Alfred and Edna Reser Lynde. Mr. Lynde married Ethelyn Hook on July 17, 1937, in Helena, Mont.

    He was a contractor. He enjoyed activities with the Peoples State Bank Rollers in Rossville.
    Before World War II, he worked for Golden Messenger Mine in York and Clancy, Mont. During the war, he worked as a welder in Billings, Mont. After the war, he moved to Rossville, where he owned and operated a welding shop for several years, then went into soil conservation work for 25 years. He retired in 1976.

    Survivors include his wife, Ethelyn of the home two sons, Loren Lynde Rogers and Timothy Lynde, both of Missoula, Mont.; one daughter, Mona Lynde, Topeka; two brothers, Dale Lynde, Arnold, Mo., and Raymond Lynde, Shreveport, La.; three sisters, Louise Haag, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Bertha Mae Osborn, Plains, Ks., and Iona Lee, Plains, Ks.; and five grandchildren.

    A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Verschelden Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville, at 10 a.m. Monday; burial followed in the Rossville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ronal Monhollon, Russell Minnis, Art Campbell, Rolland Parr, Frank Webb, Bob Gentry, James Pearl and Gerald Pearl.
