    The marriage of Edna Inez, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.H. Emert and Clyde Monroe, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.V. Hook was solemnized at the home of the bride Saturday evening, Dec. 18th the Rev. H.L. Nelson officiating.

    At eight o'clock the bride and groom entered the parlor unattended while Miss Scholeskle played Mendelsohn wedding march. The ring ceremony was used. The bride looked beautiful in her princess gown of white messaline carrying an armful of white carnations.

    The rooms were tastefully decorated in holly, pink and white carnations, giving a very pleasing effect.

    Immediately after the ceremony an elaborate dinner was served after which a number of musical selections were rendered.

    Mr. and Mrs. Hook will be at home after January 1st at Junction City, Mr. Hook being employed as bookkeeper at the Post-Commissary at Ft. Riley.

    A very simple but pretty wedding was solemnized in St. Helena Catholic parish, Helena, Montana on Saturday, July 17, when Miss Ethelyn Hook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pearl of Rossville and Mr. Elmer Lynde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lynde of Popular Bluff, Missouri, were united in marriage by Father Morressette.

    Mrs. Clifford Smithers, Helena, Montana and Mr. Edgar Smith, York, Montana were Mr. and Mrs. Lynde's attendants. Mr. Clifford Smithers was also present.

    Mrs. Lynde is a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy at St. Marys, Kansas and attended college at St. Mary college at Leavenworth, Kansas. She has been employed in Helena, Montana for the past three months.

    Mr. Lynde is a graduate of Rossville high school. He has been employed since May 1 in the mill at the Golden Messenger gold mine near York, Montana.

    Mr. and Mrs. Lynde will make their home near York.

    Lynde Couple Celebrated
    Golden Anniversary
    Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the 16th and 17th of July in Missoula, Mont.

    The hosts on the 16th were Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Lynde and Carolyn Rogers, at Carolyn’s home. Dr. and Mrs. Loren Rogers entertained with a reception at the Elks Club on the 17th. Miss Mona Lynde, their daughter, was also a guest at both receptions. The couple has three grandsons and one granddaughter.

    Elmer and Ethelyn were married at Helena Cathedral on July 17, 1937. Mr. Lynde was a soil conservation contractor for 25 years. After living in Montana for nine years they moved back to Kansas in 1946.

    Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Lynde and Carolyn Rogers entertained Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, July 16, with a golden wedding party at Carolyn Roger’s home in Missoula, Mont. Other guests were Miss Mona Lynda, Topeka; Chris Lynde, Matthew and Daniel Rogers, all of Missoula, Mont. Mr. and Mrs. Lynde were married at the cathedral in Helena, Mont, on July 17,1937.

    Dr. and Mrs. Loren Rogers, Missoula, Mont., entertained Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, at a golden wedding party at the Elks Club on July 17. Other guests were Miss Mona Lynde, Topeka, Dr. and Mrs. Rogers’ three children, Matthew, Daniel and Misty, Kelly and George, and Mrs. Shirley Kubes.

    ROSSVILLE — Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville for Ethelyn G. Lynde, 90, Missoula, Mont., formerly of Rossville, who died Friday, Feb. 9,2001, at a Missoula care center.

    She was born Jan. 6,1911, in Junction City, to Clyde Monroe and Edna Emert Pearl Hook.
    She attended Rossville Grade School and graduated from St. Marys High School. She attended St. Mary’s College for Women in Leavenworth. She taught at the Stone and James rural schools near Rossville. She spent many years in the Rossville and St. Marys communities before she moved to Missoula several years ago.

    She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the Altar Society at the church and the Literary Club, all in Rossville.

    She married Elmer Edwin Lynde July 17,
    1937, in Helena, Mont. He died Oct. 1,1993. A son, Timothy E. Lynde, also died.

    Survivors include a son, Dr. Loren Lynde Rogers, Missoula; a daughter, Mona Louise Lynde, Topeka; and six grandchildren.

    Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Lynde will lie in state after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where a prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Association for Retarded Citizens, 2701 S.W. Randolph, 66611.

    Ethelyn Lynde
    Ethelyn Gertrude Hook Lynde, 90, died Friday, February 9,2001, at a Missoula, MT care center.

    She was born January 6,1911, in Junction City, to Clyde Monroe and Edna Emert Pearl Hook.

    Ethelyn attended Rossville Grade School and graduated from St. Marys High School. She attended St. Mary’s College for Women in Leavenworth. She taught at the Stone and James rural schools near Rossville, and spent many years in the Rossville arid St. Marys communities before she moved to Missoula after the death of her husband in 1993.

    She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the Altar Society at the church, and the Rossville Literary and Music Circle, all in Rossville.

    On July 17, 1937, she married Elmer Edwin Lynde in Helena, MT. They lived nearly 10 years in the Helena and Billings area. With the end of WWII, they returned to the Rossville/St. Marys area, where they lived until after Mr. Lynde’s death. He died October 1,1993.

    She was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy E. Lynde, and a half-brother, John K. Pearl.

    Survivors include a son, Dr. Loren Lynde Rogers, Missoula, MT; A daughter, Mona Louise Lynde, Topeka; and six grandchildren.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Burial will be in the Rossville Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys.
