    Bernard C. ‘Pete’ O’Connor
    SENECA — Bernard C. "Pete" O’Connor, 80, Seneca, died Friday, March 22, 1996, at a Seneca hospital.

    Mr. O'Connor farmed in the Centralia area. He worked in highway maintenance for the Kansas Department of Transportation from 1969 until he retired in 1983. Following his retirement he worked on his son’s farm and for Dr. Al Vitt. He worked on farms in the Delia area as a young man.

    He was born May 1, 1915, on a farm southeast of Emmett, the son of Michael and Sarah Lacey O’Connor. He attended Halligan School and had lived at Golden, Colo., Delia and Centralia before he moved to Seneca in 1969.

    Mr. O'Connor was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church at Seneca.

    He was married to Kathleen Brinker on Jan. 16,1940, at Corning. She survives.

    Other survivors include a son, James B. O'Connor, Seneca; a daughter, Sharon
    Schartz, Topeka; two brothers, Frank O’Connor and Leo O'Connor, both of Topeka; four sisters, Catherine Jacobson, Rossville, and Josephine Welchans, Evelyn Hutton , and Dorothy Heere, all of Topeka; and four grandchildren.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Seneca. Burial will be at the church cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and at 7 p.m. today at Lauer Funeral Home at Seneca. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital at Seneca and sent in care of the family.
