    William LeRoy O’Trimble
    NORTONVILLE — William LeRoy
    O'Trimble, 59, Nortonville, died Tuesday,
    March 26, 1996, at a Winchester hospital. Mr. O'Trimble was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both Kansas and
    Missouri and he owned and operated O’Trimble Funeral Homes at Nortonville and Effingham. He also was associated with Hutton Monuments at Lawrence and he held
    a Kansas Insurance Agent license. He had worked for the Santa Fe Railroad offices at Topeka in 1956 and 1957 and for Sandia Corp. at Albuquerque, N.M., for the Atomic Energy Commission from 1958 to 1971.

    He purchased the Warren Funeral Home at Nortonville in 1972 and then opened the funeral home at Effingham in 1974. He was awarded the Business of the Year Award by Friends of the 4-H in 1980.

    He was born July 23, 1936, at Nortonville, the son of Thomas William and Verna Mae Bracken O’Trimble, He was graduated from Nortonville High School in 1954 and attended Clark’s Business College at Topeka. He later was graduated from Kansas City, Kan., Community Junior College with an AA degree in mortuary science in December 1976.

    Mr. O’Trimble was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where he was an elder and had served on the board of finance. He was a member of the Lutheran Layman’s League, the National Funeral Director's Association, the Kansas Funeral Director's Association and the Kansas Embalmers and Eye Enucleation Association.

    He had served on the board of directors for Kansas City, Kan., Community Junior College, Department of Mortuary Science, the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital and Geriatric Center and the Atchison Area United Way. He started the Nortonville, Effingham and Corpus Christi Community Blood Programs in 1974.

    He was married to Mary Jean Anderson on Dec. 25,1957, at Nortonville. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters; Kristy Noll and Pamela J. Hoffelt, both of Nortonville; a brother, Vernon “Bub” O’Trimble, Topeka; five grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

    Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at Nortonville. Burial will be at the Nortonville Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the O’Trimble Funeral Home at Nortonville. Memorial contributions may be made either to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church or to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
