    Rosie A. Oliver
    Rosie A. Hartzell was born in Harrisburg, Pa., December 18, 1861, and passed away in Topeka Mary [sic May] 23, 1940, aged 78 years, 5 months and 5 days.

    She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hartzell and a second cousin of the late David Hartzell. She came to Ozawkie, Kansas, with her parents, in 1868, and to Rossville in 1878 where she lived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Hartzell until her marriage to Saumel [sic Samuel] Oliver November 24, 1884. Mr. Oliver died at Piedmont, Mo., May 3, 1929, where they lived on a farm. After his death she came to Rossville and with the exception of two years spent in Claremont, Okla., with a sister, Mrs. Alice Oliver Morris, she lived at the Hartzell home here.

    On September 26, she had a stroke and in October was taken to Topeka for medical treatment and care.

    Survivors are several nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held at Conwell's Mortuary Saturday, May 25th at 1:30 conducted by Rev. C.P. Broadfoot of the Rossville Methodist Church. Music was furnished by Harold Rankin. Burial was in the Hartzell family lot at Oskaloosa, Kansas.

    The pallbearers were Frank Hartzell, Bert Brown, Frank Wilder, of Topeka; L.P. Hartzell, E.D. Hartzell of Rossville; Walter Salley of Silver Lake, all relatives of the Hartzell families.

    Those who attended the funeral from Rossville were Mr. and mrs. E.D. Hartzell, Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Hartzell, Mrs. Irene Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shenk.

    Mrs. Rose Oliver
    Mrs. Rose A. Oliver died in Topeka, today, (Thursday) noon, where the body will lie in state until funeral arrangements are completed.

    Mrs. Oliver made her home in Rossville for several years living with Mrs. Matilda Hartzell.
