Marvin and LaVerne Hoffman, Topeka, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at 6 p.m. Saturday followed by a dance, ail at the Rossville American Legion Hall in Rossville.
Hosts will be their children. Virginia Oiler, Topeka; Harold and Pam Richey, Topeka; Marvin Hoffman Jr., Maple Hill; and Bill and Coy Hoffman, Silver Lake; and their grandchildren and their families. The couple have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
LaVerne Catherine Adkins and Marvin Leon Hoffman were married July 3, 1948, in Topeka.
Mr. Hoffman is a semi-retired farmer and auto mechanic. He is a member of the Sagebrush Boys country and western band, a group he has performed with for 30 years.

Virginia “Kay” (Hoffman) Oller
Virginia “Kay” (Hoffman) Oller, 65, of Topeka, went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 24,2014.
She was born December 5,1948 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Marvin Leon and La Verne Catherine (Adkins) Hoffman. She was a 1966 graduate of Dover High School and later graduated from Clark’s Business School as a key punch operator. She was a member of Willard Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Dawn (Mark) Miller; two grandchildren, Colton Miller and Ashlyn Miller; her mother, La Verne Hoffman, three siblings, Marvin (Sherri) Hoffman, Jr., and children, Traci Hoffman, Jasen (Steph) Hoffman and their son, Aidan, Jared Wright, Bill (Coy) Hoffman, and children, Lacey (Dustin) Brunin and their children, Quinton and Kensley, Brady (Loren) Hoffman, and Pam (Harold) Richey and children, Rich (Julie) Deiter and Megan Richey; and her neighbor and close friend, Jennie Justice. She was preceded in death by her father.
Kay enjoyed country music, cooking, animals and especially her grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Maple Hill, KS. Kay will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Dover /Willard/ Valencia Volunteer Fire Department.
