| Obituary- Padgett, Clyde Clyde “C.A.” Padgett, Sr.
Clyde “C.A.” Padgett, Sr., 75, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Topeka on September 14, 1930, the son of Emmett Francis and Dovie Wiseman-Padgett. Clyde grew up in Topeka, and graduated from Hayden High School. After graduation he joined the Marine Corps in 1952. During his service time, he married Neva M. Smith on November 4, 1952 at St. Stanislaus Parish in Rossville. After leaving the Marine Corps, Clyde remained in the reserves as a Sergeant. Clyde was an electrician for Sante Fe Railroad for over 34 years, where he retired. He was a member of Post 31 of the American Legion in Rossville, and President of the Silver Elite Club in Rossville. Clyde collected coins and trains, but lived especially to care for his family that he dearly loved.
He is survived by his wife Neva of 53 years; 3 children: Elizabeth Marie Turner of Virginia Beach, VA, Clyde Albert Padgett Jr, and Phillip Andrew Padgett, both of Topeka; a brother, William Francis Padgett of Topeka, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 27, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Padgett will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with a family visitation that evening from 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W.
