Mr. Parr came to Kansas with his parents when he was 10 years old. He has been a resident of Shawnee county since, and of Rossville community since 1877.

His wife preceded him in death on July 6, 1923. Other surviving relatives include three brothers, Joe of Rossville, John of Tecumseh, and Nathaniel of Los Angeles, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Martha Taylor of Bryan, Texas, and four grandchildren.
