Duane and Vivian Parr, Rossville, who are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, are being honored with a reception and party Saturday, November 28, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Rossville American Legion building. The reception, which is being hosted by the couple’s children, is open to the public. Friends and relatives of the Parrs are invited. Music for the celebration will be provided by the Czechland Polka Band, which is led by son, J.D.
Duane and Vivian have lived and worked around Rossville for most of the forty years that they have been married. Vivian recently retired from her job as a teller at the Silver Lake Bank, and Duane is still active in farming. The couple’s children and their families will be at the reception. Their son, J.D., and his wife Nancy reside in Lawrence. Their daughter, Patti, and her husband, John Wilmoth, live in Colleyville, Tex., with their two daughters, three-year-old Laura and one-year-old Katie.
Duane and Vivian were married December 20, 1947, in Topeka, where they lived and worked briefly before establishing their home in Rossville.

| Anniversary- Parr, Duane and Vivian 2 Parrs To Celebrate 50th Anniversary
Duane and Vivian Parr, 625 South Main, Rossville, will be guests of honor Saturday, November 29, at a reception in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary.
The occasion, open from 2 to 4 p.m. at Brickyard Bam Inn, 4020 N.W. 25th (N.W. 25th and Brickyard Road), is being hosted by their children, John and Patti Wilmoth, Colleyville, Tex., and J.D. and Nancy Parr, Lawrence, and their four granddaughters. Relatives and friends are invited to come and join in this happy occasion. The couple requests no gifts, please.
Duane Irvin Parr and Vivian Hope Tolin were married December 29, 1947, at the First United Methodist Church in Topeka. He is a retired farmer. She retired from the Silver Lake State Bank after 15 years of service.

Vivian H. Parr, 89, of Lawrence, formerly of Baldwin City and Rossville, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012.
She was born December 8, 1922 in Hoyt, Kansas, the daughter of George and Mayme (Cox) Tolin. She was a graduate of Hoyt High School in 1940. She attended Strickler’s Business College in Topeka.
Mrs. Parr was employed by Kansas Power & Light in Topeka and later worked for Silver Lake State Bank from 1971, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church.
Vivian married Duane I. Parr on December 20, 1947 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2006. Survivors include a son, J.D. Parr and his wife Nancy, Baldwin City, KS; a daughter, Patti Wilmoth and her husband John, Sanger, TX; her grandchildren, Annie Parr Ammons and her husband, Trey of Overland Park, Elbe Parr of Baldwin City, Laura Wilmoth of Lewisville, TX and Kathryn Wilmoth of Denton, X; a sister, Ferne Morse of Topeka and a sister-in-law, Mary Tolin of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Williamson; two brothers, Joyce and Gerald Tolin.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at Rossville Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
