Leona Paulini
SILVER LAKE — Leona Agnes Simecka Paulini, 80, Silver Lake, died Monday, Oct. 22,2001, at a Topeka hospital.
Mrs. Paulini had worked for Ed Mailing’s in Topeka for several years. She also was a sales clerk at Gayfirs Department Store in Mobile, Ala., for many years.
She was born Oct. 28,1920, in Delia, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Cantor Simecka. She graduated from Delia High School in 1938 and lived in Topeka before she moved to Mobile in 1958. She moved back to Kansas in 1996 and lived primarily in the Silver Lake area.
Mrs. Paulini was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville.
She married Eddie Paulini on Oct. 31,1945. He died June 4,1979.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Paulini, Mobile, and Robert Paulini, Topeka; two sisters, Eleanor Thompson, Rossville, and Josephine Con¬stant, Topeka; a brother, Ben Simecka, Silver Lake; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Paulini was cremated. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Marys will be private. Mrs. Paulini will lie in state at the funeral chapel after 2 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to service time.
Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Delia and be sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Paulini will lie in state at the funeral

Leona Paulini

Leona was born October 28, 1920, in Delia, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Cantor Simecka.
She lived in the Silver Lake community the past several years. She was raised in the Delia community and was graduated from Delia High School in 1938. She lived in Topeka before moving to Mobile, AL in 1958. She worked for Ed Mailings in Topeka for several years. She lived in Alabama for many years. She was a sales clerk for Gayfirs Department Store in Mobile for many years before she retired. She moved back to Kansas in 1996. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville.
On October 31,1945, she married Eddie Paulini. He died on June 4, 1979. Three brothers — Leo imecka, Ray Simecka, and Arthur Simecka — and one sister, Loretta Simecka Dodd, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Paulini, Mobile, AL, and Robert Paulini, Topeka; two sisters, Eleanor Thompson, Rossville Valley Manor, and Josephine Constant, Topeka; a brother, Ben Simecka, Silver Lake; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Paulini was cremated. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday, at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. Private burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Family visitation was from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel in Rossville.
