Mrs. Bessie Edith Perry, 86, St. Marys, died Thursday, November 16, 1978, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born September 26, 1892, at Rossville. She lived in Rossville until 1953, and moved to Emmett where she resided until 1971 when she moved to St. Marys and resided at St. Marys
Manor. She was a member of the Emmett United Methodist Church.
She was married to Walter Van Vleck who died in 1921. She was married to Richard Perry in September of 1932 at Holton. He died in March of 1964.
Survivors include four sons, Walter L. Van Vleck and Frank E. Van Vleck, Topeka, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Marvin Earl Van Vleck, Athens, Ga., and Omer L. Van Vleck, Rossville; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Chilson, Federal Way, Wash., and Mrs. JoAnne VandeVelde, Emmett; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Finney, Simi Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Berna Freeman, Bakersfield, Calif.; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends called at Verschelden Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel. Burial was in the Rossville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmett United Methodist Church.

EMMETT — Mrs. Bessie Edith Per¬ry, 86, St. Mary’s, died Thursday at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Sept. 26, 1892 at Ross¬ville. She lived in Rossville until 1953 and moved to Emmett where she resid¬ed until 1971 before moving to St. Mary’s. She was a member of the Em¬mett United Methodist Church.
