Miss Leona Meyer was the honored guest at a bridal shower, Wednesday evening, given by her sisters, Mrs. Gene Gilgannon of Delia and Mrs. Jack Gleason at the latter's home. Miss Meyer received many lovely and useful gifts. The evening was spent with games and contests. Refreshments were served. Those present were: Miss Meyer, Mrs. Vida Stumbaugh, Miss Alice Lemon, Mrs. Etta Boyles, Miss Lila Ellis, Mrs. Mame Meyer. Mrs. Ernest Reser, Miss Ernestine Reser, Mrs. Clarence Heinisch, Mrs. Al Heinisch, Mrs. Frank Debacher and Mrs. Joe Heinisch, of Topeka; Miss Jennie Heiland, Miss Anne Cullen, Mrs. Perry of St. Marys, Mrs. Ruth Hesse, Mrs. H. Mrs. Leona M. Perry
Mrs. Leona M. Perry, 81, Rossville, died Sunday, Sept. 22, at a Topeka hospital.
Mrs. Perry was a telephone operator at Rossville from 1946 to 1953. She and her husband then owned and operated the Perry Liquor Store for 20 years at Rossville.
She was born May 26, 1904, at St. Marys, the daughter of John Henry and Catherine Seitz Meyer.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and Altar Society and the Golden Ages Club, all at Rossville.
She was married to Milton R. Perry Oct. 5, 1935, at St. Marys. He died April 21, 1975. A daughter, Sandra Kay Perry, died in 1945.
Survivors include a son, Gerald “Jerry” Perry, Rossville; a daughter, Mrs. Charlene Corbin, Elizabethtown, Ky.; a brother, Clarence Meyer, St. Marys; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Immenschuh, Silver Lake, and Mrs. Lucille Clark, Topeka; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
