    JOHN D. PRATT
    John D. Pratt, 79, of 833 North Jackson, long-time merchant of North Topeka, died unexpectedly at his home late Saturday.

    With his brother, the late O. A. Pratt, they owned and operated for more than 50 years the Pratt Hardware store at 901-903 North Kansas, now the Ed Marling store of North Topeka, until it was sold 10 years ago. O. A. Pratt died a few years later.

    Mr. Pratt was born January 27, 1871 near Topeka. He was a member of First Presbyterian church and served as an elder. He also was affiliated with the Golden Rule lodge 90, AFAM.

    He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Anna L. Pratt, August 2, 1949. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Lamb; two grandsons, John and Charles Lamb, and two great-grandsons, Donald and Charles Alan, all of Littleton, Colo.; several nieces and nephews including Dudley Pratt of 118 Taylor, Chester W. Pratt of 412 West Fourteenth, and Mrs. Joe Parr of Rossville.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Parker Mortuary.

    Burial was in the Rochester cemetery.

    Mr. and Mrs. Joe Parr, Rolland and Virginia, were in Topeka, Tuesday afternoon to attend the funeral of Mrs. Parr’s uncle John D. Pratt held at Parkers mortuary
    Mr. and Mrs. Gus Kassebaum were in Topeka, Tuesday to attend the funeral service of Mr. John D. Pratt at the Parker mortuary.
