| Obituary- Reding, Eugene Eugene Reding dies of gunshot wound
Eugene F. Reding, 39, of 1310 Lane, died Friday evening of a gunshot wound while his wife, just outside the door, told a police officer of his suicide threat.
Reding, a farmer and heavy equipment operator, had lived in the Rossville – St. Marys area most of his life. The family had moved to Topeka in September.
Police said the wound apparently was self-inflicted. He was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Francis Hospital.
He was born May 6, 1923 at Rossville and was a member of The Immaculate Conception Church at St. Marys and Holy Name Church, Topeka. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kansas Council.
Survivors besides his widow include the two children, Larry and Jane of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Reding, 1515 West 15th; a brother Edward Reding, 1201 Jewell; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Royal, 744 Highland.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church with interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Brennan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Card of Thanks – We wish to thank our many friends, neighbors, and relatives for the beautiful flowers, mass cards and words of comfort at the time of our bereavement. We sincerely thank you one and all.
