    Roy Edward Rees


    Roy Edward Rees, 74, of Rossville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012.

    He was born Dec. 13,1937, in Grantville, the son of Harry F. and Nellie F. (Shope) Rees. He was a graduate of Rossville High School. He served in the National Guard.

    He was self-employed as a distributor for Deep Rock Service Station of Topeka until 1969 when he relocated with his family to Anchorage, Alaska. He later retired from Seymore Foods in Topeka. After his retirement, he worked for Roach Hardware in Topeka.

    Roy married Beulah M. Burress on July 18, 1957, at Oskaloosa. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three children, Debbi Childers and husband Howard of Auburn, Jeanette Rees of Mayetta, arid Brian Rees and wife Ashley of Rossville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Rees of Holton and Glenn Rees of Silver Lake.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister, Betty Rees.

    Funeral services were Feb. 6, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601.

    Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Roy will lie in state from 2-5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
