    John Francis Reid
    ROSSVILLE — John Francis Reid, 79, Rossville, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 1995, at a rest home here.

    He was born July 20, 1915, in Albany, N.Y., the son of Franklin and Catherine V. Mahar Reid. He served in the Marine Corps 20 years and was a gunnery sergeant when he re¬tired. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

    Mr. Reid was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Albany, N.Y., and Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville.

    He was married to Betty Louise White. She died Feb. 14, 1990.

    Survivors include five daughters, Mary McCann, Bagara, Queensland, Australia, Elizabeth C. Bishop and Hope Ann Reid, both in Temecula, Calif., Patty Sorge, Rockville, Md., and Ramona Nichol, Reno, Nev.; and several grandchildren.

    Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion will conduct graveside services at Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Reid will lie in state after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
