Melvin “Ben” Reser, 89, Topeka, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Reser had been a self-employed carpenter working as Reser Carpentry in the Topeka, Silver Lake and Lyndon communities. He also served on the Silver Lake City Council for several years.
He was born Nov. 17, 1911, in Rossville, the son of William L. and Laura Pearl Wood Reser. He lived in Silver Lake and in Lyndon from 1962 until he moved to Topeka in 1992.
He married Christine Stich on Aug. 31, 1937, in Flush. She died Sept. 10, 1982.
Survivors include two sons, William J. Reser and Richard M. Reser, both of Topeka; two broth¬ers, Randall Reser, Topeka, and Robert Reser, Tecumseh; a sister, Nadine Jones, Topeka; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Feltner Funeral Home Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
