Joseph Rogers
DELIA — Joseph “Shipshee" Rogers, 54, Delia, was dead on arrival at Holton Hospital following an automobile accident on Wednesday, Jan. 22, west of Mayetta.
Mr. Rogers was employed at Merry Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 2, 1944, at Kansas City, Kan., the son of Mary Shipshee. He attended Pohattan School and had lived in Delia for several years.
He married Mary Shobney in 1974. They were divorced in 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy Johnson and Tracey Rogers, both of Delia; a son, Joseph "Bob" Rogers Jr., Delia; two sisters, Gilreath Aitkens, Hiawatha, and Gaynell Jessepe, Topeka; five brothers, Aaron Aitkens and Lymon Aitkens, both of Mayetta, Kevin Aitkens and Merle Jessepe. both of Topeka, and Robert Jessepe, Greeley, Colo.; and one grandson.
Kennekuk Church services will be at 8 p.m. today at the Kickapoo Community Building. Burial services will be at noon Saturday at the community building, followed by burial at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Green Family Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation. Visitation will be until 2:30 p.m. today at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton.
