William and Lorene Rogers of St. Marys will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner and a card shower.
Lorene Fry and William Rogers were married Aug. 18,1951, at Sacred Heart Church in Newbury.
They have one daughter, Beverly.
Mr. Rogers worked for Douglas and M.W. Watson Construction Cos. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers owned and operated the BandB Cafe in St. Marys for 23 years, retiring in 1989.

ST. MARYS — William V. “Porkey” Rogers,
77, St. Marys, died Wednesday, May 15,2002, at a St. Marys nursing home.
Mr. Rogers worked for Douglas Construction and M.W. Watson Construction for more than 33 years. He and his wife owned and operated the B&B Cafe in St. Marys for 23 years. Mr. Rogers served in tire U.S. Naval Reserve, the Army and the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was born Dec. 30,1924, at St. Marys, the son of Edward and Martha Mullen Rogers. He grew up in the St. Marys community and lived in the area all of his life.
Mr. Rogers was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. He was a 50- year member of K of C Council No. 657, St.
Marys; Goodyear VFW Post No. 2187, Topeka; Jimmie Lillard American Legion Post No. 31, Rossville; and International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local No. C96, Topeka.
He married Lorene Fry on Aug. 18,1951, at Newbury. She survives of the home.
Survivors also include a daughter, Beverly A. Rogers, St. Marys; a sister, Vena M. Willingham, Topeka; and a brother, Orval E. Rogers, Topeka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys, with military honors by Jimmie Lillard American Legion Post No. 31. Mr. Rogers will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Porkey Rogers Memorial Fund, to be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
