    Frank and Winifred Stach celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 14 with their family.

    The Staches were married Nov. 14, 1943, in Corvallis, Ore., while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They farmed in the Rossville and Delia areas until retiring in 1980. They have two daughters, Virginia Meyer, Rossville, and Marilyn Schmitz, Silver Lake. They have four grandchildren.

    The marriage of Marilyn Kay Stach to Dennis Robert Sumner was solemnized at 7 p.m., August 18, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Delia. The Rev. Al Rockers officiated.

    Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stach, Rossville, and Mr. Sumner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sumner, Delia.

    For her wedding, the bride chose a white silk organza silhouette with a touch of blue. The bodice was embroidered with daisies and blue ribbon insertion. A stand neckline and Dresden sleeves were trimmed in Venice lace daisies. Her softly gathered skirt was scattered with daisies and a Dior bow caught her sheer organza train trimmed with daisies. her three-tier bouffant veil was caught by a profile of Venice lace daisies. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses and blue daisies.

    Mrs. Tom Meyer, Rossville, attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Pat Kelly, Topeka, and Mrs. Don Johnson, Wamego. Junior bridesmaid was the bridegroom's sister, Nancy Lyne Sumner, Delia. Flower girl was the bride's cousin, Emily Decker, Topeka.

    Vernon Sumner, St. Marys, served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Joe Simecka, Delia, and the bridegroom's cousin, Jerry Lutz, Holton. Ring bearer was the bridegroom's cousin, Darrin Sumner, Topeka. Guests were seated by Tom Meyer, Randy Sumner, and Skip Keller, all of Rossville.

    A reception at the Rossville Community Center followed the ceremony. A wedding dance was held at the Moravian Hall.

    Both Mr. and Mrs. Sumner are graduates of Rossville High School.

    Mrs. Sumner received a BS degree in journalism from Kansas State University in May, where she was a member of Kappa Delta social sorority and Theta Sigma Phi, women's journalism honorary.

    Mr. Sumner attended Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia for two years. He is employed by Altic Construction Company, Topeka.

    Marilyn Schmitz
    Marilyn K. Schmitz, 44, Topeka, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 1994, at a Topeka hospital where she was admitted after she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Saturday.

    She was born Aug. 25, 1950, in Wamego, the daughter of Frank H. and Winifred E. Decker Stach. She received a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1972 from Kansas State University in Manhattan where she was affiliated with Kappa Delta sorority. She was a secretary for the Menninger Foundation.

    She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville.

    She was married to Urban J. Schmitz July 12, 1974, in Topeka. He survives.

    Other survivors include two sons, Matthew J. Schmitz, Manhattan, and Nathan P. Schmitz, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stach, Rossville; a sister, Virginia Meyer, Rossville; and a grandfather, Ernest Decker, Rossville.

    Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Schmitz will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
