 | Obituary- Andres, James James Andres Passes Away
James L. Andres, age 84, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at a Topeka Hospital. Jim was born on March 27, 1939, in Alta Vista, to Louis and Grace (Meyers) Andres. He grew up in Alta Vista and later proudly served in the United States Army.
On January 1, 1961, Jim exchanged vows with Laura Watson in Council Grove. They resided there until 1969 when they made their home in the Rossville community. Jim's career included working as an operator at the Jeffery Energy Center in St. Marys, and after retiring from there, he dedicated several years to the City of Rossville.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers and their spouses, Bob (Pat) Andres and Neil (Jean) Andres.
Surviving him is his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Laura, who resides at their home. He is also survived by two daughters, Andrea (Curt) Martin of Rossville and Cindy (Mike) Hansen of Eskridge, along with a sister-in-law, Ann (Joe) James of Rossville. Jim leaves behind a legacy of five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to honor Jim's life will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Rossville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Helping Hand Humane Society, sent to the Piper funeral home.
