    William L. Shannon

    BLUE RAPIDS – William Lowell Shannon, 60, Blue Rapids, died Wednesday at a Blue Rapids nursing home. He had cancer.

    He was born May 19, 1914, in Cuba, Kan. He attended public schools at Clay Center and attended Ottawa University, Ottawa.

    Mr. Shannon was a construction worker and had owned a shop at Rossville for several years.

    He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Blue Rapids, and was a member of Hesperian Lodge No. 111, AF&AM, Rossville.

    He was married to Evelyn M. Schurr on May 5, 1938. She survives.

    Other survivors include a daughter, Ginger Ann Allen, Green Bay, Wis.; three sons, Bruce Shannon, Lincoln, Neb., and Randell Shannon and Max Shannon, both of the home; two brothers, Benton Shannon, Texas City, Tex., and the Rev. Lloyd Shannon, Greenwood, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church at Blue Rapids. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church at Blue Rapids.

    Perry Funeral Home, Blue Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
