Margie “Madge” Shotts, 83, Topeka, died Wednesday. Nov. 6,2002, at a Topeka hospital.
Mrs. Shotts and her husband owned and operated Seabrook Paint and Wallpaper Co. until retiring in 1979.
She was born Aug. 28,1919, in Hastings, Okla., the daughter of Ralph 8. and Margie Bell Howard Telford. She graduated from high school in Lawton, Okla., and from Cameron Junior College. She also attended Oklahoma Science College in Chickasha, Okla. She had lived in Japan, Venezuela and Alaska before moving to Topeka in 1962.
Mrs. Shotts was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and was past president of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was a church hostess and Sunday school teacher.
She married Clarence J. Shotts on March 13,
1942, in Chickasha, Okla. He died June 21,2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Natalie L. Hall, Topeka, and Claire J. Martinek, Rossville; two sisters, Melba Schroeder, Udessa, Texas, and Estell Goins, Seattle; three brothers, Leonard Telford, Midland, Texas, H.W. Telford, Elgin, Okla., and E.B. Telford, Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Shotts will lie in state after noon Sunday at the mortuary, where visitation is from 4 to 5 p.m.
