    James E. Simecka
    DELIA —James E. Simecka, 90, Delia, died Saturday, May 5,2001, at a daughter’s home in Rossville where he had been staying.

    He was born April 22,1911, in Delia, to John and Henrietta Scheidegger Simecka. He graduated from Delia High School in 1927 and spent most of his life in the Delia community. He had been a farmer and worked for Union Pacific Railroad. He worked at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Plant in Topeka for 23 years. He was a custodian at Delia schools for more than 15 years.

    He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia, Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 in St. Marys and Local No. 307 of United Rubber Workers in Topeka.

    He married Regina M. “Sally” Dohrman on April 7,1934, in St. Marys. She died July 19, 1994.

    Survivors include three sons, James L. Simecka, Rossville, Gerald R. Simecka, Topeka, and Edward Simecka, St. Marys; seven daughters, Mary Barr, Jo Endicott, Pat Skaggs and Ginger Lynch, all in Chanute, Judy Kizzire, Lawson, Mo., Dee Kennedy, Topeka, and Barbara Froelich, Rossville; two brothers, John L. Simecka and Frank Simecka, both in St. Marys; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

    Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Marys. Mr. Simecka will lie in state after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

    James E. Simecka
    James E. Simecka, 90, Delia, died at the home of his daughter in Rossville Saturday, May 5, 2001.

    He was born April 22, 1911, in Delia, the son of John and Henrietta Scheidegger Simecka, and had lived in the Delia community all of his life.

    Mr. Simecka grew up in the Delia community and was graduated from Delia High School in 1927. He had been a farmer and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad before going to work at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant in Topeka, where he worked for 23 years. He later worked for U.S.D. 321 as a custodian at the Delia schools for over 15 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia, and the Knights of Columbus Council #657 at St. Marys. He was a member of Rubber Workers Local #307 in Topeka.

    On April 7, 1934, he married Regina M. “Sally” Dohrman in St. Marys. She died July 19, 1994.
